We Dream in Green
For Michael Counselman, starting a boutique landscape maintenance company was the culmination of a long-held dream. As the previous president of both Stiles Landscape Services Division in Fort Lauderdale and Landscape Florida in Naples, Michael managed stunning projects. He worked on celebrity and high-end residential properties as well as commercial projects such as Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall in Sunrise and Hotel Escalante in Naples. But something was missing.
Running these giant businesses made Michael feel out of touch with his clients, and being in touch is essential to him.
He knew what he needed to do, so Michael and his wife, Linda, turned his dream into reality. In 2001, the husband and wife team founded Green Team of Southwest Florida, Inc. to provide full-service grounds maintenance, renovations, and specialty landscape services to owners of high-end residential and commercial properties. Michael and Linda intentionally have kept the company small to focus on doing top-quality work for its select group of clients. Green Team is founded on a team approach, wherein the landscape contractor and property owner work as partners toward a common goal: beautiful, healthy landscapes.
Michael has always been dedicated to helping his clients, friends, and community.
After the devastation of hurricane Irma, Michael and the Green Team immediately started efforts to help restore Southwest Florida to pre-hurricane conditions. When news of an impending hurricane and evacuation warnings were issued, Michael declined to leave Naples, despite the severity of the storm, knowing that some of his clients and community would not evacuate and would need help immediately after.
Michael and his wife, Linda, have always shared a core belief: You must have patience, be gracious, and help others.
Michael has called Florida home his entire life and continues to live in Naples with Linda and their two daughters. He loves gardening, gourmet cooking and has a passion to create saltwater live-coral aquariums. Both Michael and Linda love spending as much time as possible with the youngest Green Teamer, their Grandson Quinn. Michael spends whatever spare time he can find volunteering with Head Start, the American Cancer Society, and Habitat for Humanity.
